Three Promises - One Victory

 

Three bible verses so powerful the enemy hopes you never understand them

These verses form a powerful progression. They remind believers that they are not helpless victims of fear, doubt, or spiritual opposition. They reveal that Yahweh calls His people to stand firm in faith, trusting Him rather than living as though evil has the final word.

James 4:7 — "Submit yourselves therefore to Yahweh. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

The first step is submission. Victory does not begin by confronting the enemy—it begins by drawing close to Yahweh and willingly placing ourselves under His authority.

When we submit to Yahweh:

• We acknowledge that His ways are higher than ours.
• We trust His promises over our feelings.
• We obey His commandments, even when it is difficult.

Only then are we told to resist the devil. Notice that James does not say we must defeat the devil in our own strength. We simply stand firm, refusing to give in to temptation, fear, or deception. Yahweh promises that the enemy will flee.

When fear comes, remember James 4:7.
Fear loses its grip when we submit ourselves to Yahweh and refuse to surrender to it.

1 John 4:4 — "You are of God, little children... because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world."

Doubt whispers:

• "You're not strong enough."
• "You'll never make it."
• "You're alone."

Yahweh answers with this verse.

The power behind our lives is not our own ability but Yahweh working through His Spirit. The forces of this world may appear powerful, but they are not greater than the One who has called us.

Understanding this changes everything:

• We stop measuring our problems against ourselves.
• We begin measuring our problems against Yahweh.

There is no comparison.

When doubt comes, remember 1 John 4:4.
The One who is with you is infinitely greater than anything standing against you.

Luke 10:19 — "Behold, I give unto you power... over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

Yeshua was sending His disciples into a hostile world.

He did not promise an easy life.

He promised authority.

This authority was not given so believers could become proud or reckless. It was given so they could faithfully carry out Yahweh's work without living in terror of the enemy.

Understanding this verse changes our perspective:

• We stop acting like victims.
• We begin living as ambassadors of Yahweh's Kingdom.
• We recognize that the enemy's greatest weapon is often intimidation and deception.

Yeshua has given His followers authority to stand firm in Him.

Together These Three Verses Teach

When fear comes...
Remember James 4:7.
Submit to Yahweh. Resist the devil. He must flee.

When doubt comes...
Remember 1 John 4:4.
Greater is the One who is with you than anything against you.

When the enemy attacks...
Remember Luke 10:19.
Yeshua has given His followers authority to stand firm in faith.

Yahweh Never Called Us to Live Defeated

Many believers live as though defeat is normal.

They live controlled by:

• fear,
• anxiety,
• discouragement,
• guilt,
• constant spiritual intimidation.

That is not the picture Scripture gives.

Yahweh calls His people to trust Him, obey Him, and stand firm in His promises. Trials will come, but they do not define us. Opposition will arise, but it does not own us. Victory comes through faithful dependence on Yahweh, not through human strength.

As Paul wrote, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31).

Neither did Yahweh call us to live defected—as though something is permanently broken beyond His ability to restore.

The enemy wants people to believe:

• "I'm damaged beyond repair."
• "I'm too weak."
• "I've failed too many times."
• "Yahweh can't use me."

Scripture tells a different story.

Yahweh specializes in restoring broken people. Throughout the Bible He used imperfect men and women who trusted Him:

• Moses struggled with fear.
• Gideon doubted.
• David failed.
• Peter denied Yeshua.

Yet Yahweh restored them and used them powerfully because they turned back to Him.

His strength is made perfect in human weakness.

Live as Yahweh Intended

Yahweh did not call His people to spend life defeated by fear.

He did not call them to live believing they are permanently damaged.

He called them to:

• Submit to Him.
• Trust His promises.
• Resist the enemy.
• Walk in faith.
• Stand in the authority Yeshua has given.
• Look forward with confidence to the coming Kingdom of Yahweh.

Remember:

When fear comes… remember James 4:7.
Submit to Yahweh. Resist the devil.

When doubt comes… remember 1 John 4:4.
Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

When the enemy attacks… remember Luke 10:19.
Stand in the authority Yeshua has given His followers.

These truths remind us that Yahweh has not called His people to a life of defeat, but to a life of faithful courage, steadfast obedience, and confident hope in Him.

THE SPIRIT, DEATH, AND THE RESURRECTION

 

So many are confused by the teachings of men, of tradition, of false "churches" and groups, of made up "missing books of the bible".  Let's learn the TRUTH.

Here is a Bible study showing the Ruach (spirit) returning to Yahweh, the unconscious sleep of death, and restoration to life at the resurrection.

The Comforting Hope Yahweh Gives Us in Scripture

Death can seem frightening when we imagine the person who died remaining conscious somewhere, watching time pass and waiting through the years. But Scripture presents a very different picture: the dead sleep, unaware of the passing of time, while their spirit—ruach—returns to Yahweh who gave it.

And then comes the resurrection.

The same Yahweh who gave life in the beginning can restore life again. From the perspective of the person who died, there is no long, conscious wait. Death gives way to awakening.

“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” — Ecclesiastes 12:7

1. WHAT IS THE RUACH?

The Hebrew word רוּחַ — ruach means spirit, breath, or wind, depending on context. Scripture describes Yahweh as the source of the life that human beings possess.

Genesis 2:7 says:

“And Yahweh God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

Notice that Adam was not described as receiving an immortal soul that could live independently from his body. Yahweh formed the man from the earth, gave him the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Job expresses the same principle:

“The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” — Job 33:4

Our life originates with Yahweh.

2. AT DEATH, THE RUACH RETURNS TO YAHWEH

Ecclesiastes gives us a simple description of what happens when a human being dies:

“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” — Ecclesiastes 12:7

The body returns to the earth.

The ruach returns to Yahweh.

Psalm 104:29 describes death similarly:

“Thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.”

The Hebrew word translated “breath” here is ruach.

Death reverses the process by which physical life was given. The body returns to the earth, and the life that came from Yahweh returns to Him.

3. THINK OF IT LIKE A COMPUTER AND ITS MEMORY

A modern analogy can help illustrate this biblical teaching.

Imagine the body as a computer and the ruach as something like its memory chip.

When the computer dies, it no longer operates. The screen goes dark. It cannot think, communicate, work, or experience anything.

But imagine that its essential information has been preserved.

The chip can be kept safely until a new computer is ready.

Then the chip is placed into the new computer.

Power on.

BOOM!

The computer operates again.

The analogy isn't meant to define the ruach scientifically or suggest Scripture literally calls it a memory chip. Rather, it helps picture an important truth:

Yahweh does not need our present physical body to remain alive in order to restore us.

Our identity is not beyond His ability to preserve.

4. WHAT DO WE EXPERIENCE WHILE DEAD?

Nothing.

Scripture repeatedly describes death as a state without conscious awareness.

“For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing.” — Ecclesiastes 9:5

And:

“Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished.” — Ecclesiastes 9:6

Psalm 146:4 says:

“His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.”

The dead are not watching the world.

They are not worrying about their families.

They are not frightened.

They are not counting the years.

They are not suffering through a long wait for the resurrection.

They know nothing.

5. SCRIPTURE CALLS DEATH “SLEEP”

This is why Scripture so often compares death to sleep.

Daniel was told:

“But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.” — Daniel 12:13

Daniel would rest, and later he would stand again.

Yeshua used the same language concerning Lazarus:

“Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.” — John 11:11

The disciples misunderstood Him, so Scripture explains:

“Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.” — John 11:14

Yeshua compared death to sleep because Lazarus would awaken.

Death was not the end of Lazarus.

Neither is it the end of Yahweh's people.

6. WHERE WAS LAZARUS?

When Yeshua called Lazarus from the tomb, He did not tell Lazarus to come down from heaven.

He cried:

“Lazarus, come forth.” — John 11:43

And Lazarus came out of the grave.

This agrees with Yeshua's teaching in John 5:28–29:

“The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth.”

The hope Yeshua gave was resurrection from the dead.

7. YESHUA SAID NO MAN HAD ASCENDED TO HEAVEN

Yeshua made this remarkable statement:

“And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man.” — John 3:13

Even David, a man after Yahweh's own heart, was described after his death as being in his grave.

Peter said:

“David is not ascended into the heavens.” — Acts 2:34

The biblical hope is not that the dead have already received their final reward.

The hope is resurrection.

8. THEN COMES THE GREAT AWAKENING

Imagine falling asleep tonight.

You close your eyes.

Your next conscious moment is morning.

Eight hours may have passed, but you didn't experience those eight hours passing.

Death is pictured similarly.

A person could have died 2,000 years ago, yet there is no conscious experience of those centuries passing.

Then comes the voice of Yeshua.

The resurrection.

The awakening.

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16

For the dead, the long passage of history has not been a conscious wait.

One moment: life.

Then death.

Then, from their perspective:

Awake!

9. A NEW BODY

Paul explains what happens at the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15.

“It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.” — 1 Corinthians 15:44

Our present bodies are temporary.

They grow old.

They become injured.

They become sick.

Eventually they die.

But the resurrection body is different.

“It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.” — 1 Corinthians 15:42

And:

“This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” — 1 Corinthians 15:53

Immortality is something we put on at the resurrection.

Death does not win.

Yahweh gives life again.

10. THE “MEMORY CHIP” GOES BACK IN

Return to our computer illustration.

The old computer has died.

The information has been preserved.

Then Yahweh provides the new body.

The ruach is restored.

And—

BOOM!

Life.

Consciousness.

Recognition.

Awakening.

The person who went to sleep in death lives again.

This analogy should not be pushed beyond what Scripture actually says. The Bible does not explicitly define the ruach as a storage device containing human memories. What it does tell us is that the spirit returns to Yahweh at death and that Yahweh is able to resurrect the same person to life.

Our identity is safe with Him.

11. WHY THIS TRUTH IS SO COMFORTING

When someone we love dies, we do not have to imagine them frightened, lonely, or wondering why we haven't joined them.

They are at rest.

They do not experience the years passing.

And Yahweh has not forgotten them.

Yeshua said:

“The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth.” — John 5:28–29

Imagine that moment.

Parents see children again.

Children see parents again.

Husbands and wives recognize those they loved.

Families separated by death embrace again.

The grave has lost its victory.

12. PAUL SAID TO COMFORT ONE ANOTHER WITH THIS HOPE

Paul described the resurrection because believers were grieving those who had died.

He did not tell them, “Don't grieve because your loved ones are already living in heaven.”

Instead, he pointed them toward Yeshua's return and the resurrection of the dead.

“The dead in Christ shall rise first.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16

Then Paul concludes:

“Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:18

That is where Scripture directs our comfort:

THE RESURRECTION.

THE BEAUTIFUL PICTURE

Yahweh gives life.

↓

We live in a physical body.

↓

The body dies.

↓

The ruach returns to Yahweh who gave it.

↓

The body returns to the earth.

↓

The dead know nothing.

↓

They rest peacefully in the sleep of death.

↓

Yeshua returns.

↓

The dead hear His voice.

↓

They are raised.

↓

Mortality puts on immortality.

↓

LIFE AGAIN!

THE TRUTH IS SO COMFORTING

Death is not an endless conscious journey.

It is not centuries of waiting.

It is sleep.

For the one who dies, there is no awareness of the passing years. Their next conscious moment is their awakening.

Yahweh remembers.

Yahweh preserves.

Yahweh resurrects.

And what appears to us as a separation lasting years—or even thousands of years—is only a sleep to the one awaiting resurrection.

One moment they close their eyes in this life.

The next moment they open them to the resurrection.

That is why Paul could say:

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” — 1 Corinthians 15:55

Our hope is not in escaping death.

Our hope is in Yahweh's promise to raise the dead.

And when that day comes—

BOOM!

Awake.

Alive.

Conscious.

A new body.

A new life.

And death will not have the final word.
