Scripture shows that as the age grows darker, those who obey Yahweh and follow His commandments will increasingly be hated, misunderstood, persecuted, and even killed by people who believe they are serving God. The prophets, the apostles, and Yeshua Himself warned this would happen.
Yeshua Warned His Followers Would Be Hated
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.”
— Matthew 10:22
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”
— John 15:18
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they WILL also persecute you.”
— John 15:20
Yeshua explained that true followers would not be loved by the world system because the world rejected Him first.
They Will Think They Serve God By Killing Believers
One of the clearest warnings comes directly from Yeshua:
“They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.”
— John 16:2
This shows:
- persecution will often come from religious people,
- they will believe they are righteous,
- they will think they are defending God,
- yet they will actually be fighting against Yahweh.
This happened to:
- the prophets,
- Yeshua,
- Stephen,
- the apostles,
- and will happen again at the end of the age.
They Will Reject Sound Doctrine
Paul warned that many would abandon truth and refuse sound teaching:
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”
— 2 Timothy 4:3
Instead of obeying Yahweh’s commandments, many will choose teachers who tell them what they want to hear.
“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
— 2 Timothy 4:4
Yahweh’s Commandment Keepers Become Targets
The book of Revelation identifies Yahweh’s people this way:
“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Yahweh, and the faith of Yeshua.”
— Revelation 14:12
And Satan specifically wars against them:
“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of Yahweh, and have the testimony of Yeshua.”
— Revelation 12:17
The persecution is directed especially at:
- those who obey Yahweh,
- those who refuse compromise,
- those who hold to the testimony of Yeshua.
The Pattern Has Always Been the Same
The righteous have always been persecuted by those claiming to represent God:
- Abel was killed by Cain,
- the prophets were killed by religious leaders,
- Yeshua was condemned by religious authorities,
- Stephen was stoned,
- the apostles were hunted.
Yeshua said:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets…”
— Matthew 23:37
End-Time Deception
Scripture warns that deception will become so strong that many will mistake evil for righteousness.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil.”
— Isaiah 5:20
“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise… insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
— Matthew 24:24
Many who persecute Yahweh’s people will sincerely believe they are right.
The Faithful Must Endure
Yeshua repeatedly warned believers to endure faithfully until the end:
“He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
— Matthew 24:13
And Revelation gives this encouragement:
“Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer… be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
— Revelation 2:10
The Scriptures show a coming separation:
- truth vs deception,
- obedience vs compromise,
- Yahweh’s commandments vs human tradition
Those who follow Yahweh may become hated by the world, but Scripture says Yahweh knows those who are His.
