TELL MY CHILDREN I LOVE THEM (SONG)

TELL MY CHILDREN I LOVE THEM

This song comes from the heart of a father who still loves his children through years of silence and separation.

In my experience, the Philadelphia Church of God (PCG) is a controlling cult whose influence has torn my family apart. I believe pressuring members to cut off loved ones is a form of control that breaks families and destroys lives. I have lived with the heartbreak of that separation for years—missing conversations, milestones, and time with children and grandchildren that can never be replaced.

But they have never stopped being my family. My love for them has never depended on whether we agree about a church.

“Tell My Children I Love Them” is my message to Elise Salinas and Nathan Moffett:

I love you. I miss you. My door is open, and you do not have to earn your way back into my heart. You have never left it.

For Elise and Nathan

Verse 1
Fourteen years of changing seasons,
So much I haven’t heard.
I wonder how your days are going;
I’d welcome any word.
There’s so much I could tell you,
But here’s where I would start:
The years have kept us far apart,
But never from my heart.

Chorus
Tell my children I love them,
If you see them passing through.
Tell them Dad would love to hear
The little things they do.
They don’t need a perfect answer
Or the words to make things right.
Tell my children I love them,
And they can call tonight.

Verse 2
Elise, you sent that picture,
And I studied every part—
That little boy I’ve never held
Found a place here in my heart.
You named him for your brother;
I cried to hear his name.
And I long to meet your children
And hear about their day.

Chorus
Tell my children I love them,
If you see them passing through.
Tell them Dad would love to hear
The little things they do.
They don’t need a perfect answer
Or the words to make things right.
Tell my children I love them,
And they can call tonight.

Verse 3
Nathan, out in Oklahoma,
There’s so much I don’t know.
What makes you laugh these days, my son?
Where do you like to go?
I’d love to sit beside you,
Let an afternoon go by,
And hear the man that you’ve become
With my own ears this time.

Bridge

I miss your mother, Marla,
And Sterling every day.
I trust that we will meet again
When sorrow fades away.
But while we have tomorrow,
There’s time to start anew.
My children, I am waiting,
And I still believe in you

Final Chorus
Tell my children I love them;
There’s a place beside me here.
We can start with just “Hello”—
It’s been so many years.
We can listen to each other,
Take it slowly, take our time.
Tell my children I love them.
They’ve been loved through all this time.

Outro
My door is open, always,
Whatever we’ve been through.
Elise and Nathan, I’m still here,
And I’d love to hear from you.

r left it.
