Introduction to “King Gerald and the Folding Throne”

Gerald Flurry founded the Philadelphia Church of God (PCG) after his dismissal from the Worldwide Church of God.

Over the years, Flurry has claimed increasingly extraordinary religious authority. His teachings identify him as “That Prophet” and the end-time Elisha, while his later claims concerning David’s throne and his own kingship have brought that authority into the realm of royalty.

Critics, including former members, point to prophetic expectations that failed to unfold as presented—particularly surrounding Donald Trump’s loss in 2020 and predictions of the PCG’s departure from the United States.  Scripture gives a serious standard for prophetic claims: when a prediction made in Yahweh’s name does not happen, people should not fear the speaker (Deuteronomy 18:20–22).

This song is a satirical response to the titles, royal claims, and elevation of one man within the PCG. Behind the humor is a serious question: Are people being taught to follow Yahweh and Yeshua—or to accept a leader’s claims about himself?

Pull up a folding chair. The royal introductions may take a while.

[Intro]
Hear ye, hear ye!
Please rise for His Majesty—
This may take a minute.
He’s still reading all his titles!

[Verse 1]
King Gerald Flurry had a royal notion:
“I think this chair deserves a promotion!”
Put a little velvet where the cushion’s worn,
Announce another title, and a king is born!

“Elisha” on the nameplate, “That Prophet” on the door,
“King of Israel”—better order one more!
The fellow at the print shop said, “I hate to complain,
But we’ve run out of paper just printing your name!”

[Chorus]
Oh, King Gerald, polish up that throne!
You might wind up reigning all alone.
You can wear three titles and a velvet hat,
But where does the Bible say to follow all that?
The Philadelphia Church of God can cheer,
But a crown won’t make the truth appear.
When the people start thinking on their own,
There’s an awful lot of room around the throne!

[Verse 2]
He calls it David’s throne—well, imagine that!
Does it come with a harp and a royal welcome mat?
David faced a giant with a sling out on the plain;
This king needs another plaque explaining why he reigns.

“Elisha! King! That Prophet!”—what a crowded résumé!
Does he change his royal nametag seven times a day?
One man in the front row whispered to his wife,
“I came to read the Scriptures—this is royal theater night!”

[Verse 3]
In our little royal comedy, the pews begin to clear;
Someone says, “I’ve had enough of coronations here!”
Another takes his Bible, says, “I’m heading out the door.
I’m looking for a shepherd—I don’t need an emperor!”

The usher asks, “Your Majesty, what shall we do today?”
“Move the chairs a little closer—make it look that way!”
“But sire, they’re asking questions!” “Well, tell them I’m the king!”
“That’s what got them asking questions about everything!”

[Bridge]
Yeshua said to serve each other,
Love your neighbor, love your brother.
Greatness doesn’t need a royal seat;
It takes a towel and washes feet.

So here’s a test for every claim:
Does Scripture back the fancy name?
A title isn’t proof you’re sent—
And questions aren’t a royal offense!

[Final Chorus]
Oh, King Gerald, polish up that throne!
You might wind up reigning all alone.
“Elisha,” “King,” and “Prophet,” too—
That’s quite a crowd for a party of you!
The Philadelphia Church of God can cheer,
But a crown won’t make the truth appear.
When the people start thinking on their own,
There’s an awful lot of room around the throne!

[Outro]
Your Majesty, the royal carriage is ready.

Wonderful! Where are we going?

The members asked for their folding chair back.

[Intro]
When the darkness gathers,
When my strength is gone,
Yahweh, You are faithful;
Help me carry on.

[Verse 1]
I cannot face this battle
With strength that’s just my own.
But You have never left me
To walk this road alone.
When lies rise up around me,
Your Word will be my guide.
I’ll put on all Your armor,
With Yeshua by my side.

[Chorus]
Stand firm in the armor of Yahweh,
Hold fast when the shadows fall.
With the shield of faith before me,
I will trust You through it all.
With Your truth secured around me,
And Your Word held in my hand,
I will pray through every battle;
By Your strength, I’ll stand.

[Verse 2]
Let truth be fastened ’round me;
Let righteousness guard my heart.
Keep my feet upon Your pathway
When temptation pulls me far.
Let the gospel of Your Kingdom
Guide the steps I take today.
Make me ready with an answer,
Speaking peace along the way.

[Chorus]
Stand firm in the armor of Yahweh,
Hold fast when the shadows fall.
With the shield of faith before me,
I will trust You through it all.
With Your truth secured around me,
And Your Word held in my hand,
I will pray through every battle;
By Your strength, I’ll stand.

[Verse 3]
When fiery arrows find me,
Let faith put out their flame.
When fear begins to whisper,
I will call upon Your name.
Let the hope of Your salvation
Guard my mind through every night.
With the sword Your Spirit gives me,
I will hold Your promise tight.

[Bridge]
Our battle is not flesh and blood;
Let hatred have no place.
Teach us how to overcome
With truth and love and grace.
Keep us watching, keep us praying,
For our brethren everywhere.
Give us courage for the gospel;
Keep us faithful in Your care.

[Quiet Breakdown]
When the night is long and lonely,
And the tears begin to fall,
You are still my strength, my Father;
You can hear my faintest call.
Though this mortal body weakens,
Still Your promises remain.
At the trumpet, at the rising,
Death will lose its bitter claim.

[Final Chorus — Full harmony]
Stand firm in the armor of Yahweh,
Hold fast when the shadows fall.
With the shield of faith before me,
I will trust You through it all.
With Your truth secured around me,
And Your Word held in my hand,
I will pray through every battle;
By Your strength, I’ll stand.

[Outro]
Clothed in truth,
And kept by grace,
Walking on
In steady faith.
Yahweh, hold me by the hand.
By Your strength…
I’ll stand.

PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF YAHWEH

PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF YAHWEH

A Bible Study on Ephesians 6:10–18

Click Here For The Song For This Study

Central message: Our strength comes from Yahweh. He equips His people to resist deception, remain faithful under pressure, and stand firm in truth, righteousness, faith, and prayer.

1. Be Strong in Yahweh

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
— Ephesians 6:10

Paul begins by directing believers to the source of their strength. We cannot overcome spiritual opposition through determination alone. We need Yahweh’s help.

Being strong in Him does not mean that we never feel weary, frightened, or discouraged. It means that we continue trusting Him and obeying Him even when our own strength feels small.

Related scriptures:

  • Isaiah 40:29–31: Yahweh gives strength to the weary and renews those who wait upon Him.
  • Psalm 46:1: He is our refuge and strength, a present help in trouble.
  • John 15:5: Yeshua teaches that apart from Him we can do nothing.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9–10: His power is made evident in human weakness.

Application: Begin each day by asking Yahweh for the strength to remain faithful that day. Depending on Him is an expression of faith.

2. Put On the Whole Armor

“Put on the whole armor of Yahweh, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
— Ephesians 6:11

The word “wiles” refers to schemes or deceptive methods. Spiritual danger does not always appear openly evil. It may come through attractive promises, distorted Scripture, fear, pride, or gradual compromise.

Paul tells us to put on the whole armor. Knowing Scripture while neglecting obedience leaves us vulnerable. Claiming faith while abandoning truth does the same.

Related scriptures:

  • Genesis 3:1–6: The serpent deceived Eve by questioning and contradicting Yahweh’s word.
  • 2 Corinthians 11:3: Paul warns that minds can be corrupted through deception.
  • 2 Corinthians 11:14–15: Satan can appear as an angel of light, and his servants can appear righteous.
  • 1 Peter 5:8–9: Be watchful and resist the adversary steadfastly in faith.
  • James 4:7: Submit to Yahweh and resist the devil.

Application: Test teachings, impressions, and desires against Scripture. Something can sound religious and still lead away from Yahweh.

3. Recognize the Real Battle

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
— Ephesians 6:12

Our spiritual struggle reaches beyond visible human conflict. Satan works through deception, temptation, and the darkness of this age.

This does not remove human responsibility for wrongdoing. It does teach us that hatred toward people is not the answer. Yeshua commands His followers to love their enemies and pray for those who mistreat them.

Related scriptures:

  • 2 Corinthians 10:3–5: Our weapons are not fleshly; they bring thoughts into obedience to Yeshua.
  • Ephesians 2:1–3: Paul describes spiritual influence working through disobedience.
  • Matthew 5:44: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
  • Romans 12:21: Overcome evil with good.

Application: Resist lies and wrongdoing without allowing bitterness to govern your heart. Spiritual warfare never authorizes violence against people.

4. Stand Firm in the Evil Day

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of Yahweh, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
— Ephesians 6:13

Paul repeatedly emphasizes standing. The goal is to remain faithful when temptation, grief, persecution, or deception presses against us.

“The evil day” points to times when evil confronts us with particular force. We should prepare before the trial arrives.

Related scriptures:

  • Matthew 7:24–27: Those who hear and practice Yeshua’s words are like a house built upon rock.
  • 1 Corinthians 16:13–14: Stand firm in faith, be strong, and let everything be done in love.
  • Hebrews 10:23: Hold fast your confession because He who promised is faithful.
  • Matthew 24:13: Endure to the end.

Application: Build habits of prayer, study, and obedience now. Daily faithfulness prepares us for difficult days.

5. The Belt of Truth

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth…”
— Ephesians 6:14

A belt secured a soldier’s clothing and equipment. Truth likewise brings stability to our spiritual lives.

We need both the truth of Yahweh’s Word and honesty in our conduct. We cannot stand firmly while knowingly building our lives upon falsehood.

Related scriptures:

  • John 17:17: “Thy word is truth.”
  • Psalm 119:142: Yahweh’s law is truth.
  • Ephesians 4:25: Put away lying and speak truth with one another.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:21: Test all things and hold fast what is good.

Application: Read passages in context. Compare related scriptures. Be willing to correct a cherished belief when Scripture shows it to be wrong.

6. The Breastplate of Righteousness

“…and having on the breastplate of righteousness.”
— Ephesians 6:14

The breastplate protected vital organs. Righteousness pictures the protection of a life brought into agreement with Yahweh’s ways.

We depend upon His mercy and forgiveness through Yeshua. That mercy calls us to repent and walk in obedience.

Paul’s imagery also echoes Isaiah 59:17, where Yahweh puts on righteousness as a breastplate and salvation as a helmet. The armor reflects His own character and saving power.

Related scriptures:

  • Psalm 119:172: All Yahweh’s commandments are righteousness.
  • Romans 6:12–13: Yield yourself to Yahweh as an instrument of righteousness.
  • Ephesians 2:8–10: We are saved by grace through faith and created for good works.
  • 1 John 3:7: Those who practice righteousness demonstrate righteous living.

Application: Examine your conduct. Repent of known sin, seek forgiveness, and take practical steps toward obedience.

7. Feet Prepared With the Gospel of Peace

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”
— Ephesians 6:15

Secure footwear helps a soldier stand and move. The gospel gives believers a firm foundation and prepares them to carry good news.

Yeshua proclaimed the Kingdom of Yahweh. Through Him, we receive reconciliation with the Father and hope in the coming Kingdom, where righteousness and peace will prevail.

Related scriptures:

  • Mark 1:14–15: Yeshua proclaimed the gospel of the Kingdom, calling people to repent and believe.
  • Isaiah 52:7: The messenger announces peace, salvation, and the reign of Yahweh.
  • Romans 5:1: Through Yeshua, we have peace with Yahweh.
  • Romans 12:18: As far as it depends upon us, live peaceably with others.

Application: Be ready to share the Kingdom message with patience and gentleness. Let your conduct support the message you speak.

8. The Shield of Faith

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
— Ephesians 6:16

Faith means trusting Yahweh’s character, promises, and faithfulness.

The enemy’s attacks may include accusations, temptations, and lies meant to draw us away from that trust. Faith answers by holding firmly to what Yahweh has revealed.

Feeling sorrow or experiencing unwanted thoughts does not mean that faith has failed. We can bring those struggles to Yahweh and continue trusting Him through them.

Related scriptures:

  • Romans 10:17: Faith comes through hearing the Word.
  • Psalm 56:3–4: When afraid, trust in Yahweh.
  • Hebrews 11:1, 6: Faith looks toward what is unseen and approaches Yahweh with confidence.
  • 1 John 5:4: Faith overcomes the world.

Application: When fear says, “You have been abandoned,” remember Hebrews 13:5: He will never leave or forsake His people.

9. The Helmet of Salvation

“And take the helmet of salvation…”
— Ephesians 6:17

The helmet protects the head. The hope of salvation guards our thinking against despair.

First Thessalonians 5:8 specifically calls this helmet “the hope of salvation.” Our future rests in Yahweh’s promise of deliverance through Yeshua, including the resurrection and the gift of immortality.

Related scriptures:

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:8–10: Put on the hope of salvation as a helmet.
  • 1 Peter 1:3–5: We have a living hope through Yeshua’s resurrection.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51–54: At the resurrection, mortality puts on immortality.
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18: Those asleep in death will rise at Yeshua’s return.

Application: Remember that present suffering does not have the final word. Yahweh’s promised future gives us reason to endure.

10. The Sword of the Spirit

“…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Yahweh.”
— Ephesians 6:17

Scripture exposes deception, corrects our thinking, and directs our conduct.

When tempted, Yeshua repeatedly answered, “It is written” (Matthew 4:1–11). He used Scripture faithfully. The tempter also quoted Scripture, showing why context and accurate understanding matter.

Related scriptures:

  • Hebrews 4:12: Yahweh’s Word is living, powerful, and discerning.
  • Psalm 119:11: Treasuring His Word helps us resist sin.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16–17: Scripture teaches, corrects, and equips us for good works.
  • James 1:22: Be doers of the Word.

Application: Study to understand and obey. Scripture should first correct our own hearts before we use it to correct others.

11. Pray Always and Remain Watchful

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
— Ephesians 6:18

Prayer accompanies the entire passage. We depend continually upon Yahweh, seeking His guidance through His Spirit and bringing our requests into agreement with His will.

Paul also tells us to persevere in prayer for all the saints. We have a responsibility to support one another.

Related scriptures:

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17: Pray without ceasing.
  • Matthew 26:41: Watch and pray so that you do not enter into temptation.
  • Philippians 4:6–7: Bring your requests with thanksgiving; His peace guards the heart and mind.
  • 1 John 5:14: Ask according to His will.
  • Ephesians 6:19–20: Paul asks for prayer that he may proclaim the gospel boldly.

Application: Pray throughout the day—for wisdom, forgiveness, endurance, and the needs of others. Ask for courage to speak truth with love.

Questions for Personal Examination

  1. Am I depending upon Yahweh’s strength?
  2. Am I testing what I believe against Scripture?
  3. Is there a known sin I need to repent of?
  4. Do my words and actions reflect the gospel of peace?
  5. Which promise of Yahweh do I need to hold onto today?
  6. Am I praying faithfully for others?

The call of Ephesians 6 is to remain faithful: hold to truth, practice righteousness, walk in peace, trust Yahweh, remember His salvation, obey His Word, and persevere in prayer.

Closing Prayer

Father Yahweh, strengthen us through Your Spirit. Help us put on the whole armor You provide. Establish us in truth, guide us in righteousness, and prepare us to share the good news of Your Kingdom. Strengthen our faith, protect our minds with the hope of salvation, and teach us to understand and obey Your Word. Keep us watchful in prayer and faithful through every trial. In Yeshua’s name, amen.

[Verse 1]
These hands are growing older,
My steps are slowing down.
Some days my heart is heavy
With the sorrows all around.
But when I open up Your Word,
There’s strength along the way.
Though this weary body weakens,
You renew me day by day.

[Chorus]
Day by day, You renew me,
Yahweh, help me carry on.
Keep my eyes upon Your promise
Through the night until the dawn.
What I see will pass away,
But Your Word will still remain.
There is life beyond this sorrow,
There is joy beyond this pain.

[Verse 2]
You never said the road was easy,
You never mocked my tears.
You have heard my midnight prayers
Through the long and lonely years.
When I cannot face tomorrow,
Help me trust You for today.
Put Your courage deep within me,
Give me strength to walk Your way.

[Chorus]
Day by day, You renew me,
Yahweh, help me carry on.
Keep my eyes upon Your promise
Through the night until the dawn.
What I see will pass away,
But Your Word will still remain.
There is life beyond this sorrow,
There is joy beyond this pain.

[Verse 3]
Those we love who sleep in silence
Are remembered in Your care.
At the sound of Yeshua’s calling,
They will wake to breathe the air.
You who raised Your Son from darkness
Have the power to raise us too.
So I hold the hope You’ve given,
For Your promises are true.

[Bridge]
These troubles feel so heavy,
But they will not always stay.
An eternal weight of glory
Waits beyond this passing day.
At the last trump, we shall rise,
Changed forever by Your might.
Every mortal weakness ended,
Every shadow lost in light.

[Final Chorus]
Day by day, You renew me,
Yahweh, help me carry on.
Keep my eyes upon Your promise
Through the night until the dawn.
What I see will pass away,
But Your Word will still remain.
You will wipe away our sorrow,
You will bring an end to pain.

[Outro]
Though the outward man is fading,
Still my hope will not give way.
Yahweh, You are ever faithful—
You renew me day by day.
You renew me day by day.

RENEWED DAY BY DAY

RENEWED DAY BY DAY

THE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL
A Bible Study on 2 Corinthians 4:16–18

Our bodies grow older. Trials can leave us weary. Grief can make the present seem almost unbearable. Yet Paul explains why Yahweh’s people can continue in faith: what we see today is temporary, while the life Yahweh has promised through Yeshua is eternal.

1. “Though our outward man perish”

“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:16

The “outward man” refers to our physical, mortal existence. Our bodies experience aging, weakness, sickness, and eventually death. Faithfulness does not make us immune to these things.

Earlier in the chapter, Paul compares our mortal bodies to fragile vessels:

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:7

An earthen vessel can crack or break. Its weakness reminds us that the strength sustaining us comes from Yahweh.

Related scriptures:

  • Psalm 103:13–16: Yahweh has compassion on those who fear Him. He remembers that we are dust and that our earthly days are like grass.
  • Ecclesiastes 12:1–7: The passage describes the decline of the body and its eventual return to dust.
  • Romans 8:22–23: Believers also groan, waiting for “the redemption of our body.”

The lesson: Physical decline does not mean Yahweh has abandoned us. A weakening body can still contain a person growing stronger in faith.

2. “The inward man is renewed day by day”

Paul places outward decline beside inward renewal. Even as the body weakens, Yahweh can strengthen our understanding, character, hope, and trust.

The “inward man” does not mean we have an immortal soul living independently of the body. Paul also uses this expression for the inner person who delights in Yahweh’s law:

“For I delight in the law of God after the inward man.”
— Romans 7:22

He prays that believers might be strengthened inwardly:

“To be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.”
— Ephesians 3:16

Notice the words “day by day.” We are not asked to carry every future sorrow at once. We seek Yahweh’s help for the day before us.

Related scriptures:

  • Lamentations 3:21–26: Yahweh’s mercies are new every morning; therefore, we can hope in Him.
  • Isaiah 40:29–31: He gives strength to the weary, and those who wait upon Him renew their strength.
  • Matthew 6:34: Yeshua teaches us not to be consumed by tomorrow’s troubles.
  • Romans 12:2: Our lives are transformed through the renewing of our minds.

The lesson: Daily prayer, Scripture, obedience, and dependence on Yahweh nourish the inner person.

3. “Our light affliction, which is but for a moment”

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:17

Paul was not speaking as someone unfamiliar with suffering. He experienced beatings, imprisonment, shipwrecks, hunger, danger, and deep concern for others (2 Corinthians 11:23–28).

He even wrote:

“We were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:8

Therefore, “light affliction” does not mean our suffering feels small. Paul is comparing its weight and duration with the eternal glory Yahweh promises.

A lifetime of sorrow can feel terribly long. Yet it will not last forever.

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
— Romans 8:18

Related scriptures:

  • Psalm 34:18–19: Yahweh is near to the brokenhearted; the righteous experience many afflictions.
  • 1 Peter 1:6–7: Trials can prove the genuineness of faith.
  • James 1:2–4: The testing of faith produces endurance.
  • Revelation 21:4: Death, sorrow, crying, and pain will pass away.

The lesson: Yahweh does not dismiss our tears. He promises a future in which the things causing them will finally end.

4. “Worketh for us … an eternal weight of glory”

Suffering itself does not earn eternal life. Salvation is Yahweh’s gift, and eternal life comes through Yeshua (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8–10).

Nevertheless, Yahweh can use trials to develop endurance and proven character as we continue trusting Him.

“Tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”
— Romans 5:3–4

This does not require us to call evil good or pretend that loss is pleasant. It means that suffering cannot prevent Yahweh from accomplishing His purpose in those who love Him.

Related scriptures:

  • Romans 8:28–29: Yahweh works in the lives of His people toward their conformity to the image of His Son.
  • Hebrews 12:10–11: His correction can produce “the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:12: Enduring with Yeshua is connected with reigning with Him.
  • Revelation 2:10: Those faithful unto death are promised the crown of life.

The lesson: Our present circumstances do not determine the limits of Yahweh’s future for us.

5. “We look not at the things which are seen”

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:18

Paul is describing where we fix our attention and place our confidence. We still acknowledge present responsibilities and suffering, but we do not judge Yahweh’s promises solely by what we can see today.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith rests on Yahweh’s faithfulness, even before the promised outcome becomes visible.

Related scriptures:

  • Hebrews 11:1: Faith concerns things hoped for and things not yet seen.
  • Romans 8:24–25: We patiently wait for the hope we do not yet see.
  • Colossians 3:1–4: Our attention is directed toward Yeshua, with whom believers will appear in glory at His appearing.
  • 1 John 2:17: The world passes away, but the one who does Yahweh’s will abides forever.

The lesson: What is visible now is not the whole story.

6. The foundation of this hope: the resurrection

The preceding verses identify the foundation of Paul’s confidence:

“Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:14

Yahweh raised Yeshua, and He will also raise His people. Paul’s hope reaches beyond the survival of present troubles to deliverance from death itself.

Related scriptures:

  • John 5:28–29: Those in the graves will hear Yeshua’s voice and come forth.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:20–23: Yeshua is the firstfruits; those who belong to Him are raised at His coming.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51–54: At the last trumpet, the dead are raised incorruptible, and mortality puts on immortality.
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18: Those asleep in death will rise when Yeshua returns. Paul tells believers to comfort one another with these words.
  • Philippians 3:20–21: Yeshua will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.

For those grieving someone they love, the grave is a place from which Yahweh can awaken the dead. Our hope rests in His power to restore life.

Putting this passage into practice

When discouragement comes, remember these three truths:

  1. My body and circumstances are temporary. They do not cancel Yahweh’s promises.
  2. Yahweh can renew me today. I can ask for strength to take the next faithful step.
  3. Resurrection and eternal life are ahead. Death and suffering will not have the final word.

The outward person grows weaker, but hope can grow stronger. We endure because Yahweh’s promise reaches beyond everything we presently see.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:58
