Hear the Word While There Is Time

A parable is a story,
A lesson meant to show
What lies within the human heart,
And the way that we should go.

There was a man in purple,
Who feasted every day,
While Lazarus lay at his gate,
And slowly waste away.
He had the means to help him,
But chose to pass him by,
His riches hid a hardened heart
From Yahweh's watchful eye.

You cannot serve two masters,
You cannot serve Yahweh and gold.
What profit is your treasure
When your heart has grown so cold?

Hear Moses and the prophets,
Hear the Word of Yahweh!
Open up your heart to Him,
Repent and change your ways.
Riches fade and kingdoms fall,
And pride will pass away.

Then Yeshua told of judgment,
A great reversal came:
The poor man found his comfort,
The rich man found his shame.
Not because all wealth is evil,
For Abraham had wealth—
But riches cannot justify
A heart that lives for self.

The hungry at your doorway,
The suffering you see—
What good is all your worship
Without love and mercy?

[Verse 3]
"Send Lazarus to my brothers,
Go warn them while there's time!"
But Abraham said, "They have the Word,
The prophets and the Law divine."
"If they refuse to hear them,
Their hearts will still resist,
Even if one rose up from the dead,
They may not be convinced."

[Bridge — building]
The dead know nothing in the grave,
Their thoughts have passed away.
They sleep within the dust of earth
Until resurrection day.
Yeshua said the graves will hear
His voice and then come forth.
And those who sleep will rise again
When He returns to earth!

[Breakdown]
This parable was not a map
Of souls beyond the grave.
It warned the proud and wealthy
How Yahweh calls us to behave.
A finger, tongue, a drop of water—
Pictures in the story told.
The warning wasn't "souls can't die"—
The warning was the heart grown cold.

Hear Moses and the prophets!
Hear the Word of Yahweh!
Turn away from selfishness,
Repent and change your ways!
Don't trust wealth or status,
For they all will pass away.
