There is a spirit in man,
Given by Yahweh above.
But there is another Spirit—
The Spirit of Yahweh,
His power, His mind, His love.

There is a spirit in man,
Yahweh gave it from the start,
Understanding, thought and reason,
Memory, mind and heart.
Not an immortal soul within us,
Not a life that cannot die,
When the breath of life has ended,
Man does not ascend on high.
The dust returns unto the earth,
The spirit to the One who gave,
Our thoughts perish in that moment,
We sleep unconscious in the grave.
Waiting for the resurrection,
Waiting for Yahweh's call,
For He remembers every person,
And He can restore us all.

Two different spirits,
The Scriptures make it plain.
One gives human understanding,
One reveals the things divine,
His Spirit works together with
This human spirit of mine.

And death is swept away,

That Yahweh promised we would gain.

His Spirit opens understanding,
Shows the truth we could not see,
Works within the ones He's calling,
Preparing them for eternity.
It is Yahweh's power and presence,

Working with our human spirit,
Transforming heart and life.
"The Spirit itself bears witness
With our spirit," Scripture says,
That we are the children of Yahweh,
Being prepared for endless days.
