WHEN AND HOW WILL YESHUA RETURN TO EARTH?

Why Is He Coming?

Yeshua’s return will be a literal, visible, powerful event that occurs after the Great Tribulation. He is not returning secretly. Every nation will know that the rightful King has come.

He will return to rescue His elect, resurrect the faithful saints, overthrow the kingdoms of this world, save Israel from destruction, and establish the Kingdom of Yahweh upon the earth.

1. Yeshua Promised That He Would Return

Before His death, Yeshua told His disciples that He would come again.

John 14:2–3

“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Yeshua did not promise that His followers would permanently go to heaven. He promised:

“I will come again.”

The hope of the faithful is the return of Yeshua and the resurrection of the dead.

Hebrews 9:28

“Unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

2. Yeshua Will Return on the Feast of Trumpets

Yahweh has established appointed times that reveal the stages of His plan of salvation. The Feast of Trumpets prophetically pictures the return of Yeshua, the resurrection of the saints, and the establishment of His Kingdom.

Leviticus 23:24

“In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.”

The Feast of Trumpets is one of Yahweh’s appointed Holy Days. It is proclaimed by the blowing of trumpets, which announce the coming of the King, the resurrection of the faithful, and the beginning of Yahweh’s rule over the nations.

Numbers 29:1

“In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation… it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.”

Yeshua will fulfill the prophetic meaning of this appointed day when He returns to the earth.

The Last Trumpet Announces His Return

1 Corinthians 15:51–52

“We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

The Feast of Trumpets therefore pictures:

• The visible return of Yeshua
• The resurrection of the firstfruits
• The gathering of the elect
• The defeat of rebellious human governments
• The establishment of the Kingdom of Yahweh

According to the prophetic plan revealed through Yahweh’s appointed Holy Days, Yeshua will return on the Feast of Trumpets. We may not yet know the year in which it will be fulfilled, but Yahweh has revealed the appointed day that pictures and announces the return of the King.

The Feast of Trumpets is not merely an ancient observance. It is a yearly proclamation:

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

“For Yeshua himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Yahweh: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first.”

The trumpet is directly connected with Yeshua’s descent and the resurrection.

The Seventh Trumpet Announces the Kingdom

Revelation 11:15

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Sovereign, and of his Messiah; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

The seventh trumpet announces the transfer of world government to Yeshua. He returns as King of kings to take authority over the nations.

The King is coming. The dead will be raised. The saints will be changed. The kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of Yahweh and His Messiah.

3. Yeshua Returns After the Tribulation

Yeshua plainly described the timing of His appearance.

Matthew 24:29–30

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light… And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

The order is unmistakable:

1. The Tribulation occurs.
2. Heavenly signs appear.
3. The nations mourn.
4. Yeshua appears in the clouds.
5. His elect are gathered.

This passage does not describe a secret pre-Tribulation rapture. Yeshua places the gathering of His elect after the Tribulation.

Matthew 24:31

“And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds.”

4. Yeshua Returns at the Last Trumpet

The resurrection of the faithful occurs at the sounding of the trumpet.

1 Corinthians 15:51–52

“We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

Revelation 11:15

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Sovereign, and of his Messiah; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

The last trumpet announces:

• The resurrection of the saints
• The transformation of the faithful living
• The transfer of earthly rulership to Yeshua
• The beginning of His reign over the nations

HOW WILL YESHUA RETURN?

5. He Will Return Personally and Bodily

After Yeshua ascended, two angels told the disciples that He would return in the same manner.

Acts 1:9–11

“While they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight… This same Yeshua, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Yeshua ascended:

• Personally
• Bodily
• Visibly
• From the Mount of Olives
• Into the clouds

He will return personally, bodily, visibly, and with the clouds.

6. His Return Will Not Be Secret

Revelation 1:7

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.”

Matthew 24:27

“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Lightning across the sky cannot be hidden. Likewise, the return of Yeshua will be a worldwide, unmistakable event.

There will be:

• A mighty trumpet
• The voice of the archangel
• The resurrection of the dead
• Heavenly signs
• Shaking of the earth
• The visible appearance of Yeshua
• Mourning among the nations

Nothing about this event is secret.

7. Yeshua Will Descend With a Shout and a Trumpet

1 Thessalonians 4:16

“For Yeshua himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Yahweh: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first.”

Notice that Yeshua Himself descends.

His return is accompanied by:

• A commanding shout
• The voice of the archangel
• The trumpet of Yahweh
• The resurrection of the faithful dead

8. The Dead Saints Will Be Resurrected

The faithful dead are not already living in heaven. They are asleep in death, awaiting the resurrection.

1 Thessalonians 4:13–14

“I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep… For if we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Yeshua will Yahweh bring with him.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16

“The dead in Messiah shall rise first.”

John 5:28–29

“The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth.”

The dead must be raised because they have not yet received immortality.

9. The Faithful Living Will Be Changed

After the dead saints are resurrected, the faithful who remain alive will be transformed.

1 Corinthians 15:53

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

Immortality is something the faithful must “put on.” Human beings do not naturally possess immortal souls.

1 Thessalonians 4:17

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet Yeshua in the air.”

The saints meet Yeshua in the air as He descends in glory. This is not proof that He turns around and takes them permanently to heaven. They go out to meet their returning King.

10. He Will Come With His Resurrected Saints

After being gathered to Yeshua, the glorified saints will accompany Him.

Zechariah 14:5

“Yahweh my Elohim shall come, and all the saints with thee.”

Revelation 17:14

“The Lamb shall overcome them: for he is King of kings, and Sovereign of sovereigns: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”

Those with Yeshua are described as:

• Called
• Chosen
• Faithful

11. His Feet Will Stand Upon the Mount of Olives

Yeshua will return to the same region from which He ascended.

Zechariah 14:4

“And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east.”

The Mount of Olives will split apart in a tremendous earthquake.

Zechariah 14:9

“And Yahweh shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Yahweh, and his name one.”

Yeshua is not merely coming near the earth. He is returning to establish Yahweh’s government over the earth.

WHY IS YESHUA COMING?

12. He Is Coming to Save His Elect

Unless Yeshua intervenes, human warfare will bring mankind to total destruction.

Matthew 24:21–22

“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world… And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

Yeshua is returning to prevent mankind from destroying all human life.

13. He Is Coming to Resurrect the Faithful

John 6:40

“Every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

The hope of salvation is centered upon the resurrection.

Yeshua returns to awaken the faithful dead and give them immortal life.

14. He Is Coming to Gather His Chosen People

Matthew 24:31

“They shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Yahweh will not forget a single faithful servant. Whether alive or asleep in death, they will be gathered to Yeshua.

15. He Is Coming to Reward His Servants

Revelation 22:12

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”

Yeshua brings the reward with Him. The saints do not have to go to heaven to receive it.

Matthew 16:27

“For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.”

16. He Is Coming to Overthrow Human Governments

The nations will not willingly surrender their authority to Yeshua.

Revelation 19:19

“And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him.”

Human governments will attempt to fight the returning King. Their resistance will fail.

Daniel 2:44

“The Elohim of heaven [shall] set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed… it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

Revelation 11:15

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Sovereign, and of his Messiah.”

Yeshua will replace mankind’s governments with the righteous government of Yahweh.

17. He Is Coming to Rule the Nations

Revelation 19:15–16

“He shall rule them with a rod of iron… And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND SOVEREIGN OF SOVEREIGNS.”

Isaiah 9:6–7

“The government shall be upon his shoulder… Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.”

Yeshua is returning as King—not merely as a teacher or suffering servant.

At His first coming, He gave His life for sin. At His second coming, He will take His rightful place as ruler of the nations.

18. He Is Coming to Restore Israel

Jeremiah 30:3

“I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah… and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers.”

Ezekiel 37:21–22

“I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen… and bring them into their own land: and I will make them one nation in the land.”

Yeshua will gather and reunite Israel and Judah under one King.

Ezekiel 37:24

“And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd.”

19. He Is Coming to Establish Righteousness and Peace

Human governments have repeatedly failed to produce lasting peace. Yeshua will teach the nations Yahweh’s righteous way of life.

Isaiah 2:3–4

“Out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem… Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

The nations will learn Yahweh’s Torah. Weapons of war will be turned into tools of production.

Isaiah 11:9

“They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea.”

20. He Is Coming to Establish the Thousand-Year Reign

Revelation 20:4

“They lived and reigned with Messiah a thousand years.”

Yeshua will reign, and the resurrected saints will serve with Him as kings and priests.

Revelation 5:10

“And hast made us unto our Elohim kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

The saints’ future is not an idle existence in heaven. They will help Yeshua teach, govern, restore, and serve the people who survive into the Millennium.

21. The Nations Will Observe Yahweh’s Ways

Zechariah 14:16

“Every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King… and to keep the feast of tabernacles.”

The survivors of the nations will be taught to worship Yahweh and observe His appointed times.

Yeshua will restore true worship—not the traditions mankind has added to Scripture.

HOW SHOULD WE PREPARE?

22. Watch and Remain Spiritually Awake

Luke 21:36

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things… and to stand before the Son of man.”

Watching means more than following world events. It includes examining our spiritual condition and remaining faithful.

23. Repent and Obey Yahweh

Acts 3:19–21

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted… And he shall send Yeshua Messiah… whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things.”

Revelation 14:12

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Yahweh, and the faith of Yeshua.”

Those preparing for Yeshua’s return are identified by:

• Faith in Yeshua
• Repentance
• Obedience to Yahweh
• Patient endurance
• Faithfulness under trial

24. Do Not Be Deceived by Counterfeits

Matthew 24:23–24

“If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Messiah, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Messiahs, and false prophets.”

Yeshua’s true return will not depend upon rumors, private appearances, or the claims of religious leaders.

When He returns:

• Every eye will see Him.
• The trumpet will sound.
• The dead saints will rise.
• The living saints will be changed.
• The nations will mourn.
• The kingdoms of the world will become His.
• His feet will stand upon the Mount of Olives.

No counterfeit can reproduce these events.

THE ORDER OF EVENTS

1. The Gospel of the Kingdom is proclaimed.
2. Worldwide deception and lawlessness increase.
3. The Great Tribulation occurs.
4. Heavenly signs shake the world.
5. The trumpet sounds.
6. Yeshua appears visibly in the clouds.
7. The faithful dead are resurrected.
8. The faithful living are changed.
9. The elect are gathered to Yeshua.
10. Yeshua and His saints descend in victory.
11. His feet stand upon the Mount of Olives.
12. The armies opposing Him are defeated.
13. The kingdoms of this world become His Kingdom.
14. Israel is gathered and restored.
15. Yeshua begins His thousand-year reign.
16. Yahweh’s law, knowledge, peace, and truth spread across the earth.

CONCLUSION

Yeshua will return after the Tribulation, at the sounding of the trumpet. His coming will be personal, bodily, visible, glorious, and unmistakable.

He is coming to:

• Prevent mankind from destroying itself
• Save His elect
• Resurrect the faithful dead
• Transform the faithful living
• Gather His chosen people
• Reward His servants
• Defeat the rebellious armies
• Overthrow mankind’s corrupt governments
• Restore Israel
• Establish the Kingdom of Yahweh
• Teach Yahweh’s law to every nation
• Bring justice, truth, healing, and peace to the earth

The question is not merely, “When will Yeshua return?”

The more important question is:

Will we be watching, obeying, and faithfully waiting when He comes?

Revelation 22:20

“Surely I come quickly.”

And the faithful answer:

“Even so, come, Sovereign Yeshua.”
