As we near the end of this age. It won't be long until we see the sign of the Son of Man in heaven
Yeshua said:
What Is “the Sign of the Son of Man in Heaven”?
Yeshua said:
“And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
— Matthew 24:30The sign is the first unmistakable heavenly manifestation of Yeshua’s approaching return—His glory appearing in the sky before He is fully revealed coming upon the clouds.
It will be as bright as a second sun appearing in the sky
1. It appears after the heavenly powers are shaken
Immediately before the sign appears:
“The sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.”
— Matthew 24:29
This will not be an ordinary astronomical occurrence. The familiar appearance of the heavens will be dramatically disrupted.
Revelation describes something similar:
“And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.”
— Revelation 6:14
The sign appears in the setting of these worldwide heavenly disturbances.
2. It is visible throughout the earth
Yeshua compared His coming to lightning:
“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
— Matthew 24:27
The sign will not be a secret message understood by only a few people. It will be a brilliant and undeniable heavenly event associated with Yeshua’s arrival.
Revelation confirms:
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.”
— Revelation 1:7
3. The world immediately recognizes what it means
When the sign appears:
“Then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn.”
— Matthew 24:30
The nations apparently understand that the sign announces the arrival of the One whom they have rejected. This resembles the reaction described during the heavenly upheaval:
“Hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come.”
— Revelation 6:16–17
It is not merely an interesting light in the sky. It announces that mankind’s rule is ending and that Yahweh’s appointed King is coming.
4. The sign and Yeshua’s appearance may be two stages of one revelation
Notice the order in Matthew 24:30:
- The sign appears in heaven.
- The nations mourn.
- They see the Son of Man coming in the clouds.
The sign is the initial manifestation of His coming glory, followed by Yeshua Himself becoming visibly recognizable.
Yeshua said:
“For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels.”
— Matthew 16:27
He will be revealed in overwhelming brightness:
“Whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.”
— 2 Thessalonians 2:8
Biblically, Yeshua’s identifying signs are His power, glory, clouds, angels, trumpet, and worldwide visibility.
The most careful conclusion
The sign of the Son of Man is most likely the first worldwide, supernatural appearance of Yeshua’s radiant glory in the heavens, announcing that He is approaching as King.
It may look like an extraordinary brightness spreading across the heavens after the sun and moon are darkened. However, Scripture does not give its exact shape, so we should not invent one.
The sign will be so powerful and unmistakable that the nations will know:
Yeshua is coming, mankind’s age is ending, and the Kingdom of Yahweh is about to rule the earth.
